The Play

The Choice tells the story of a couple who are expecting their first child. They learn that the child will have Down’s Syndrome. Should they choose to continue the pregnancy?

The play offers a moving debate which presents both sides of the argument. The decision is examined through the eyes of the writer, who presents a picture of her own warm relationship with her Down’s Syndrome brother, set against the anguish of the couple.
